A message to our donors:
Like every nonprofit this year, we are deeply concerned abut the economic impact the pandemic is having on you, our donors. Our leadership is determined to do everything possible to retain our outstanding staff because economic developments are having, and will continue to have, a devastating impact on the housing stability of the most vulnerable in our community. Our mission is more urgent than ever.
Having been unable to celebrate our 20th anniversary gala, our largest fundraising event, much needed funds are missing from the current year's income. Celebrating such an important milestone brings joy and pride, but with that, necessarily, comes the need for day to day maintenance of a building with a temperamental and aging elevator, and roof soon requiring replacement.
First Light serves women and families who have been surviving on the streets and those who have recently become homeless. We give them emergency shelter and essential social services, which can lead to full independence later. The task is monumental and we need your help. Your contribution does make a difference.
So, where does your money go?
- 91% were emergency shelter and permanent supportive housing expenses
- 7.5% were management and general expenses
- 1.3% were fundraising expenses
210 emergency shelter guests were placed in either transitional or permanent housing settings, and all guests received a mental health assessment and appropriate referrals. We could not do this without YOUR support. Thank you.
